Legco Legislator Ann Chiang expressed that the new political reform is a creative system which might be the “Third Way” that the West is looking for. The Nominating Committee comprises a broad representation from all walks of life in Hong Kong. A balanced development on the growth of the economy and the social needs of the community can be achieved. With one person one vote for the Chief Executive, foreigners who are permanent residents in Hong Kong can also have the right to vote. This unique characteristic is rare in Western countries. Definitely it will be a great loss of Hong Kong people if the new political reform is rejected.​
